Raising children in today’s world seems to be a whole new ball game, compared to previous generations. Our children are exposed to the world through technology much earlier than ever before. Add to this the rise of anxiety, depression, suicide, pornography, sexual confusion, bullying, drug use, and social media, it’s no wonder our kids are stressed out and as parents, we are too. If you aren’t directly exposed to one of these issues, no doubt friends of your children will be.

How can we parent our children through these issues and keep Jesus at the forefront of each conversation?

How, as Christians, can we navigate this and raise not only well adjusted children but children who follow Jesus and have a deep, life long relationship with Him?

The Family DNA project is about empowering parents to be the first disciplers of their children and to resource them to deal with some of the issues raised above.

What does Family DNA stand for?

Family – bringing home and church together. Home and church need to work together and support each other.

D – Deuteronomy 6: 4-9. These verses are what God expects us to pass on to future generations. We are called to love God with our heart, soul and strength. This is what we need to pass on to our children. Verses 7-9 tell us how to do this – by talking about them with our children.

N – Nurture. Proverbs 22:6 tells us “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

A – Aroha (love). There are many verses about love in the bible. 1 John 4:19 sums this up quite nicely. “We love because he first loved us.”
